Electronics/Engineering

Some of our more challenging projects have been for clients in the semiconductor industry. One of those clients wanted to streamline the training procedures for overseas field personnel. The client had been flying in trainees from all over Asia to the US for a week of English–language lectures. There was an online training course, but it was available only in English. The client wanted versions in the trainees' native languages so they could learn at their own pace—without the expense of travel and resultant downtime from work.

We had translators familiar with the semiconductor equipment field handle the scripts for the training modules. Their work was edited carefully for style and timing. Then professional voice talents read the scripts, with bilingual monitors in place to follow along in the script. The recordings were edited and made into electronic files for incorporation into separate audio tracks within a multimedia presentation.

Our largest client for interpreting services knows the importance of communication. And to explain its products and services to its own clients, it calls on JLS to provide the very best interpreters available, people with many years of professional experience and a solid understanding of the client's industry. They have become the bridge between English and Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish in settings both large and small. The interpreters may sit at the table in business meetings with just a few participants where they can speak directly to their listeners. Or they may be in isolation booths with headpieces and microphone, rendering speeches and presentations into the other language right along with the speaker. Or even remotely for videoconferences where they follow the proceedings realtime on a computer. Whatever the method, the client knows that the message will be clear and the listener comprehension optimal.
