Mainland China's shift from a planned economy to one that includes elements of privatization required that senior officials be brought up to speed on Western management practices. So when a group of them came to attend a business forum at a local university, JLS was called upon to translate the 77,000–word reading list. We put together a team that could handle the whole spectrum—supply chain management, business sustainability and its environmental impacts, transitioning from low–end to high–end products, ecotourism. Our team provided an indispensable service for readers who needed to grasp the material, but had a limited command of English.
