The translation process is a dialogue. When you approach us with a potential project, we review the source material with you to assess the job's size, file formats, and deliverables. We then determine the resources needed to complete it, and come back to you with a firm quote—firm meaning that all costs are listed, and that no unmentioned fees will be added at invoice time. But at all times, client information is kept in the strictest confidence, before the project begins, during the translation process, and after the final files have been delivered.
Once you've approved the quote, that's when we roll up our sleeves. We assign seasoned, professional translators and editors to the job, experts with years of expertise in dealing with your kind of material. We create a master schedule with deadlines for all team members to follow. We contact you with terms or concepts that need clarification, and sometimes even suggest ways to improve the language or format of the source documents. And all the while, we apply our demanding quality control procedures.

To meet the full range of client requirements, JLS uses the latest and most powerful text–editing, DTP, multimedia, graphics, and communications software available, and is equipped with double–byte capability for Asian–language projects. Final products are delivered for either Mac or Windows in formats such as MS Word, HTML, FrameMaker, and InDesign.
All JLS work is conducted in accordance with our exacting Quality Control (QC) process. What puts our translation services in such great demand in Silicon Valley is our two–step procedure: we assign the translation to an experienced professional with appropriate expertise in the subject matter, and the result is reviewed in its entirety by a separate, equally qualified editor. This ensures not only an accurate and consistent translation, but one that reflects the subtle nuances of the source text while reading as though it were originally written in the target language.
In the traditional translation process, any special formatting or publication requirements are not applied until the translation itself has been finalized. The applications used for the published version—InDesign or Illustrator, for example—are ones in which the translators can't work directly.
There is an accelerated process where translators and editors work directly in the final format (such as XML). Clients can therefore review both content and formatting at an earlier stage than in the traditional model, cutting down on the time to project completion.
